Maquineta

2002 · VB6
Maquineta
Crèdit: 200

// How to play

You start with 200 credits. JUGAR costs 10 and puts a random colour (one of six) on each of the three screens. Each Provar button costs 20 and re-rolls only the screen above it. Three screens of the same colour pay out: black 500, blue 300, red 250, green 200, yellow 150, white 100 (Regles opens the rules window). After a win the Provar buttons lock until your next JUGAR.

If your credits drop below zero the screens turn grey and every button locks. Nova partida gives you 200 credits and a new game.

// Revisited

Rebuilt in HTML5 + JavaScript from the original Visual Basic 6 source (r.frm and R2.frm, 2002). The odds, prices, payouts and Catalan texts are the original ones, quirks included: the Provar buttons already work before the first JUGAR, and Nova partida stays on screen once it has appeared. The rules still open in a second window, as they did in the original.

The game loaded its colours at run time from 30×30 bitmaps in C:\, and only Blanc.bmp (plain white) survived. The black, red, yellow, blue and green tiles were recreated as flat 30×30 squares in Visual Basic's own colour constants (vbBlack, vbRed, vbYellow, vbBlue, vbGreen). So was gris.bmp, the grey (#808080) the screens show when you go broke; the source uses it too, although it was not in the list of bitmaps. As in the original, each bitmap sits at its natural size in the top-left corner of its screen. The title-bar icon stands in for VB's default form icon.
